The art awards scheme for offenders, secure patients and detainees

We’re the UK’s best-known prison arts charity. We’ve been awarding, exhibiting and selling artworks by offenders, detainees and secure patients for over 50 years.

Our awards receive over 8,000 entries a year – inspiring offenders to take part in the arts, work for achievement and transform their lives. Our national exhibition attracts 20,000 visitors – showing the public the talent and potential of offenders and people in secure settings.

We have no endowment or capital – our work depends entirely on donations.

Name an Award

Name a Koestler Award

We play a unique national role in motivating offenders, secure hospital patients and immigration detainees to take part in the arts through awards, exhibitions and feedback.

Give a name to an award in a category of your choice, and reward achievement, build self-confidence and broaden horizons. We’ll send you an image of the artwork granted your award, and if it is chosen for exhibition or publications it will be captioned with your award name. Every entrant receives a certificate, and the name of your award will also appear there, showing an offender that members of the public support their positive achievements.

We’ll also invite you to events throughout the year, including the private previews of our exhibitions in London and across the UK.
