Art projects in prisons

From 2002 to July 2006, the Koestler Trust successfully piloted a series of visual arts projects in prisons. Called "Learning to Learn through the Arts", the projects addressed blocks to learning by creating a link between the Arts and Education. They helped those inside prisons find a positive and meaningful activity through which they learnt skills to help them lead more productive lives.

The projects were devised and run by artist Angela Findlay.  See more of Angela’s work at www.angelafindlay.com

The “Learning to Learn” programme is now being taken forward by the Anne Peaker Centre, the national co-ordinating charity for arts across the criminal justice system in the UK.  The Koestler Trust works closely on many initiatives with the Anne Peaker Centre, which is an excellent source of information, advice, training and contacts.  Visit www.apcentre.org.uk
