VOLUNTEERING AT THE
KOESTLER ARTS CENTRE
We sometimes need volunteers to help us handling the hundreds of artworks entered for our awards. We especially welcome ex-offenders who are looking for work experience. We can also give placements to students.

PRISONERS
We need experienced and enthusiastic practitioners from all arts fields to volunteer as Mentors.
Every year the Koestler Awards identify prisoners with exceptional creative talent. With thanks to The Paul Hamlyn Foundation, the mentoring project supports Koestler Award winners to continue their arts activity after release. Find out more about becoming a mentor.
SUPPORTING THE KOESTLER TRUST
Thank you to all our supporters for making it possible for us to acheive so many of our aims and objectives. In the last year we have had our first exhibitions in Edinburgh and Manchester, new awards with more feedback to entrants, new jobs for ex-offenders in our team, more artists supporting Koestler Award winners through our mentoring programme, and our UK exhibition at the Royal Festival Hall curated by victims of crime.
All this has been possible because of your help, and it is with your help that we will continue to develop in the future.
Fundraise for Us
We love having supporters who want to get others excited about what we are doing, and raising money for our work along the way. Fundraising can be enormous and worthwhile fun for those who take part, and for those that support the fundraiser. Here are some suggestions about what you might do:
- Sponsored Fun Runs, Marathons, Treks, Cycles or Walks
- Portrait-a-thon – if you're a talented artist yourself (or even if not!), why not paint your friends' and family's portraits in exchange for a donation to the Koestler Trust.
- Hold a Koestler Trust evening – we'll send someone to do a short talk for you with some current Koestler Award artwork

From as little as £5 a month for a Commended Award, to our top Scholarship Award which offers talented offender artists 10 mentoring sessions with a professional artist, naming an Award can be one of the most direct and satisfying ways to get involved with the Koestler Trust. MAKE A DONATION
Donating to the Koestler Trust can be one of the most simple and effective ways to help our work. One off payments and regular standing orders, ensure that we can concentrate our resources on helping those that most need encouragement.
