NAME A KOESTLER AWARD

We play a unique national role in motivating offenders, secure hospital patients and immigration detainees to take part in the arts. Our awards are simple and powerful. We reward achievement, build self-confidence and open new horizons for some of society's most disadvantaged people.

Every entrant receives a certificate, written feedback and the chance to have their work displayed and sold at one of our exhibitions. We give out over 1000 awards and the most talented are mentored by specially trained arts professionals.

By naming a Koestler Award you will be showing offenders that members of the public care about their positive achievements. In return you will receive specific benefits from us. Most of all, you will be helping us to continue our work motivating and raising the self-worth of those who need it most.

NAME AN AWARD

You are not alone
You Are Not Alone Oakhill STC, Secure children's home,
Kath & Harry Bryan Under 18s Special Award

“Our Dad died in 1996 and our Mum in 2009. We considered a headstone for them but decided on a living memorial that would benefit someone - hence the award naming. Our parents were passionate supporters of people who had drawn one of life’s short straws - especially troubled young people and as my Mum was a very talented creator of many things, it felt very right to support Koestler.

My brother and I were profoundly moved when we saw the work of the recipient of our parents' first year's award, You are not Alone and actually saw the piece in the exhibition. We knew that our decision to support the Koestler Trust was the right one.”

BENEFITS OF NAMING AN AWARD

  1. You name the award – for yourself, for an organization, or as an exciting and unusual gift for a loved one e.g. The Sarah Bachelor Platinum Award for Oil Painting.
  2. Your award name will appear on the winner’s certificate, showing them that there is support for their work on the outside.
  3. We send you a copy of the artwork that wins your award.
  4. We invite you to our events throughout the year, including private previews of our exhibitions at the Royal Festival Hall and across the UK.
  5. The name of your award will be displayed wherever your award-winning artwork appears – at our exhibitions, on our website, in merchandise and publications. The higher the award you support; the more widely it will be seen.

Named Awards are accepted all year round, and are assigned just before the opening of our UK exhibition held at the Royal Festival Hall each autumn.
