In 2007, for the first time, the annual Koestler Exhibition was hosted by a major public gallery. It ran for 8 weeks from July to September at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) on The Mall in central London. Called "Insider Art: Art from the Koestler Awards Scheme", it showcased around 150 works from the visual arts entries to the 2007 Koestler Awards.
The exhibits, beautifully displayed across three gallery spaces, were chosen by:
- Grayson Perry (Turner Prize-winning artist)
- Zelda Cheatle (photography consultant and Koestler trustee)
- Dr Mike Phillips (author and curator, Tate)
- Mark Sladen (Director of Exhibitions, ICA).

“Insider Art” and the ongoing work of the Koestler Trust are generously sponsored by Bloomberg, whose own gallery Bloomberg SPACE included some Koestler art in its “Prison” exhibition earlier in 2007. Bloomberg staff and clients had an exclusive event at the ICA in August 2007.
Art Sale September 2007
The ICA could include only a small selection of the 2007 Koestler Award entries. When it ended, we opened our building at Wormwood Scrubs Prison to the public, offering another 2,000 for sale. More
