Chris, a former inmate at HMP Highpoint, was one of the many artists whose work was featured in Koestler's 'Insider Art' Exhibition held at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in September 2007.
The piece selected for the ICA entitled Lady Butterfly was painted for his girlfriend. It represents love, stability and patience. Although a very personal piece Chris hoped that its message would have an impact on other people through its public display.
Since his release from prison Chris has continued painting. He is now studying to be a sound engineer and is making new friends. Chris, who was brought up in the USA, is convinced that art has helped keep him alive "Now life is good. I wouldn't have made it without the painting"
